Old Dubai depicted at the Dubai Museum

By the Bur Dubai side of the Dubai Creek lies lines of inexpensive places to visit. From the abra station, the Heritage Village, the Bastakiya, even the Hindu temples, and add to it the Dubai Museum. 

Al Fahidi Fort houses Dubai's main museum. It's the oldest building still existing in Dubai

The Dubai Musuem is located in the Al Fahidi Fort that was built in 1787 and is the oldest existing building in Dubai.

The museum was opened by the ruler of Dubai in 1971, with the aim of presenting the traditional way of life in the Emirate of Dubai. It includes local antiquities as well as artifacts from African and Asian countries that traded with Dubai. It also includes several dioramas showing life in the emirate before the advent of oil. In addition to artifacts from recent discoveries as old as 3000 B.C. (Wikipedia)

Entrance fee is only AED 3 for those above 6 years old and AED1 for those below and it's worth the time.

When visiting, make sure to have checked everything on the ground level before heading down the Galleries underground, since it leads to the exit and they wont allow you to go back.
