Family Lunch at Off the Hook Restaurant in Deira

April 10, 2018

With several Filipino-owned or Filipino-themed food spots opening one after the other in the city, we were not able to keep up at checking each one of them. This weekend however, we decided to restart discovering, which led us to head to Centurion Tower behind Day-to-Day at Deira City Center Metro Station. The building is home to several other Filipino-centered restaurants, allowing more options when visiting. We went there on a Saturday afternoon, so we did not compete for seats, which is otherwise something to consider during peak hours when there are groups waiting for tables to be emptied. As we had the place for ourselves, we were not too conscious of having to rush on our food.

For the day, we decided for Off The Hook restaurant. Along with it's name, the menu is mainly about seafoods. The menu provides a simple set of options thus is easier to decide what to feast on.

OUR EXPERIENCE

For our family of two adults and two kids, we had two sets of their solo meal which turned out to be more than enough for us. The solo set at this time costs AED69 plus VAT. We had one set with mussels and salmon, and the second set with prawns and salmon, each set with two crab balls each. Rice and drinks are unlimited.

From their website, Off the Hook lives to the tagline:

"Experience FUN Dining
Cheerful & Fun, Unpretentious & Simple
Warm, Modest, Minimalist,Value for money
Healthy – Real Food"

The accomodating staff and the ambience (see photos below) did serve as promised. The staff as well assured that the ingredients they cook are always fresh.

If there's anything we wish could be better is if the food could be served not in plastics and styro, (especially where newly-cooked hot food is dumped in the plastic bag). Also, the sauce is mainly oil, which we tend to minimise or avoid including when we dig in with the rice, hence we dont get the most of the flavour of the sauce into what we eat. But otherwise, we had a good feast on seafood.

Bill for two adults and two kids: AED 144.90

The menu prices are exclusive of VAT.
